Our Programs

Recognizing the enormity of the challenges kittens face, Wolly Kitten Club is dedicated to making a lasting impact through care and support. While our efforts are driven by our organization’s singular focus, we are always on the lookout for new opportunities to support the little ones. Learn more about our initiatives and get involved yourself.

FOSTER TO TRANSPORT

When shelters and rescue organizations in the greater Houston area ask Wolly Kitten Club for assistance with cats and kittens in their care, we are happy to help! We help shelters with socializing cats and kittens, with keeping them safe and with caring for the small fur babies. We get the kittens ready for transport to partners in the Midwest.

TNR SUPPORT

Wolly Kitten Club helps with sterilizing community cats to reduce outdoor population of Houston’s feline population. Our partners trap community cats and kittens and we step in to foster, socialize kittens when possible and help with reducing the community cat population by returning cats to their community while making sure they will not reproduce. We are doing our part in the Trap Neuter Return program.

FOSTER SUPPORT

Wolly Kitten Club is dedicated to helping foster families in the greater Houston area. We supply assistance in our foster network for:

- Veterinary Visits

- Medications

- Vaccinations

- Spay & Neuter

- Supplements

- Carriers & Blankets

- Litter Boxes

With a kitten season that runs pretty much the full year, foster families get overwhelmed with the financial burden of carrying for a continuous stream of kittens. We assist foster families with these expenses.

WKC ASSESSMENT

NEEDS

  • There are too many cats/kittens being euthanized in overcrowded shelters due to the lack of reliable & knowledgeable fosters to prepare them for adoption/transport.

  • There are too many unsterilized cats/kittens living on the streets of Houston due to the lack of abundant low-cost/free TNR support/services.

  • There are too few foster families. Foster families that are available become overwhelmed financially and they are not receiving appropriate training.

SOLUTION

We will expand existing relationships and build new relationships with fosters, vets, local shelters and other rescue organisations to meaningfully decrease the number of shelter cats/kittens euthanized and contribute to the increase in sterilization of community cats/kittens living in our neighborhoods

TASKS AND PURPOSES

  • To provide a safe foster environment for cats and kittens removed from abusive, endangered or neglectful situations until they can be adopted;

  • To provide a safe foster environment for cats and kittens who are in danger of being euthanized at area shelters or otherwise, and to pursue adoption for such cats and kittens;

  • To provide a safe foster environment for community cats and kittens who have been determined to be suitable companion animals until they can be adopted;

  • To provide resources to support animal advocates, primarily in the greater Houston, Texas area, who are, or who are interested in providing or supporting TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) services to community cats and kittens;

  • To educate and promote the importance of spaying, neutering and vaccinating both companion and community cats and kittens; and

  • To engage in such other activities aimed to prevent cruelty to cats, kittens and other animals
